HELP US SPREAD THE WORD
Please reach out to Junior Curlers you know and
encourage them to apply for the $5,000 Spirit of Sandra
Canadian Junior Curling Scholarships.
These $5,000 Canadian Junior Curling Scholarships are funded through a Crowd Sweep™ at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts and other sporting events, as well as 50/50 draws and Sandra Schmirler Day breakfasts held at curling clubs across Canada. In addition to the financial support provided by these curling scholarships, the successful applicants are mentored by world championship curlers Jon Mead and Cathy Overton-Clapham who volunteer their time to help these young curlers realize their own dreams.
This year we have reduced the course load requirement to 3 courses in recognition of the challenges faced by our past Scholars in combining a full course load with the demands of competitive curling. We have included 10 tips to help applicants create their video that accompanies the application. We’ve also taken the guesswork out of the required fundraising event. Scholars will have the choice of organizing a Crowd Sweep™ or a Sandra Schmirler Breakfast at their home curling clubs. And mentors Jon and Cathy will be there to help.
Spirit of Sandra Canadian Junior Curling Scholarships are intended for young curling athletes in their graduating year from high school or while pursuing a post-secondary education. The Curling Scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school students entering a post-secondary institution and to students in their first or second year at university or college. Recipients must be 20 years of age or under as of December 31, 2014.
Application deadline is midnight (Eastern Time) May 1, 2015. Successful applicants will be notified no later than June 1, 2015.
Thanks for spreading the word!
