Vic Rauter is a Sandra Schmirler Foundation (SSF) Legacy Champion. This is a lifetime appointment in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the SSF through the support he has provided the SSF in the promotion of the annual Telethon on TSN. Widely known as “the voice of curling”, the Foundation is grateful that Vic also voluntarily represents them on occasions like the Ontario Hospital Associations Golf Tournament in Orillia. This week, Vic presented a cheque for $75,000 to the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital’s Pat Campbell, President and CEO and Nicole McCahon, Executive Director and John Cameron, Chair of the Board of Directors. These funds were a match of up to $75,000 to monies raised at the event which totalled over $157,000. The SSF funds will be dedicated to the purchase of life-saving equipment for the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at Orillia’s Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital. The Sandra Schmirler Foundation has now donated over $640,000 to 15 hospitals in Ontario helping families with babies born premature and critically ill.
